Italian triumph on Malta GPS
2010
A genuine
triumph truly "made in Italy" in Evolution and SuperSport. The GPS "speaks"
Italian with two teams winning the Grand Prix of Malta and also leading the
overall rankings. The joy continues with the first career victory in Race 1:
Giuseppe Antonio Schiano next to his dad in RG87 Karelpiu". Especially Marco
Pennesi is happy. He left Malta last year after an ugly incident that forced
him to hospital and claimed in fact his season. A setback which has served
to Pennesi: "Last year I left the hospital here, this time I leave with the
checkered flag." "Today we have had better luck in the race," says the pilot
Grottammare. "I love Malta. I started here in 2004 with a win. Last year it
was the hospital, but this time it's a victory for my many fans in Malta.
Yes the incident served its purpose but it is always the most well thoughout
Montavoci boat. All the components between the hull and the engines are top
quality. If we can start in front of everyone we can keep our lead."
Then follows an important clarification and one of gratitude: "I am
concerned to note some serious oversights. I think especially in Supersport
where someone should have more attention at all junctures of the race.
Mirrors are very important, fundamental. No one should forget to install
them. Finally, a heartfelt thanks to Seatek which allows us to monitor the
development of engines." Next to him a beaming Montavoci. "We're a strong
mixture. Ukraine had already showed good things before retiring, now we must
remain calm and vigilant because the competition is here". Metamarine leads
the overall standings. Furnibo forced to retire along with SNAV Kiton who is
now third.
In Supersport the old lion Renato Guidi wins. And the Neapolitan pilot
who loves to joke about his team and himself says: "I'll be very happy to
win because I am the oldest driver on the oldest boat with the older
engines. Roy Capasso is crucial in that position. The boat has really been
set well during two years of competition. It 's a beautiful and highly
competitive Supersport. The secret? Reflexes, quickness and cazzimm. Close
second overall is Spirit of Belgium, forced to retire in race 2 today, while
the third Al & Al gained 18 points over the weekend.
